Rural Experiences at Vumba

Goat Safari

Countryside safari carried out by tractor or jeep through the rural property of Vumba. The tour goes through the beautiful valley formed by woods and pastures and five small dams.

Shepherd for a Day

Be in charge of our herd of goats or flock of sheep and take them through the valley to pasture. Experience life as a shepherd for a few hours and enjoy the feeling of being part of a different reality.

Cheese Factory Tour

In the herd’s shed, interact with our sheep and goats and in the artisanal cheese factory watch how our organic products are made.

Make Your Own Cheese

Learn the traditional method used to make our sheep cheese. Get busy at our artisanal cheese factory and make your own cheese under the supervision of our master cheesemaker.

Olive Picking

Join our team and help picking olives using traditional methods practiced for centuries in the region. Usually ripe in October and November, our olives from the Galega variety will then be pressed to make our delicious organic extra virgin olive oil.

Foraging for Mushrooms

After autumn first rains, mushrooms begin to grow on the ground of the Vumba forest. A variety of species of fresh mushrooms can be readily prepared to make a delicious and healthy meal.

E-bike Rentals

At Vumba, we have 6 e-bikes to rent to our guests. You can ride around the property and enjoy our trails, or explore the nearby region and take advantage of the beautiful sights and charming villages.

You can also get some fresh eggs for your breakfast from the chicken coop, pick some organic veggies from the vegetable garden or fresh fruit from the orchard (price depending on quantity) to use in your meals while at Vumba. In the property, we have 3 great hiking and biking trails that take you through the woods and the valley. If you fancy a special treat, we can organize a true gourmet experience at the Winery with Oliver, our guest chef, cooking specially for you a menu of delicious recipes made with local produce.
