Memorable Stays, Year After Year.

SINCE 2016, WE LET OUR GUESTS TELL OUR STORY.

“Go ‘down-under’ in Portugal at Vumba farm if you want to get away from everything that’s touristy, want to see a clear sky of stars at night and you like the charm of a rooster/cock waking you up in the early morning. 😉 We’ve stayed at Vumba for two nights in August. The room was very pleasant, large and it stayed cool during the day time. Joanna was a great host and she gave is a list with good advice for eating and daytrips to towns and river places. She brought us fresh Bread in de morning, and if lucky, fresh eggs from the chickens at Vumba farm.”

“We stayed in Vumba for 4 nights and our hearts were bleading once we had to leave. This place is beyond amazing when you’re looking for a calm, easy-going yet hip experience. Definitely recommend profiting from the daily farm life by getting hands on milking sheep (!) watching animals and learning about cheese production. The farm’s fresh and matured cheese taste as tender, as it could get and Joana was ever so generous to provide it to us as soon we run out. We truly loved Joana, her family and staff for their genuine care and joyful attitude! They also had a very helpful list of sights and restos nearby.”

“We (my husband, our three kids between 4 and 8 and myself) had the best time at Vumba! Vumba is such a beautiful farm, a lovely place to enjoy your holiday in every way. Joanna and Patrick are very sweet and gave us valuable information about the surroundings (we went to Bucaco and to Avo, both very beautiful places to visit) and provided us with fruit, vegetables and we also had the possibility to collect more to a low price. Joanna arranged for us so we got bread in the morning and the best yoghurt.

The swimingpool-area was also very tastefully decorated. We took a goatsafari on the farm that was wery apprecisted by all of us. We saw sheep, goats and got a little tour in the the cheese-factory that is situated on the farm. We would definetely go back, it was perfect!”

Airbnb: 7 to 12 Julho 2017, Eva Lejon, Sweden

“Our stay at Vumba was wonderful. Joana is one of the bests hosts we have met and the farm is beautiful. The cheese and the yogurt are amazing! Ruben gave us a tour of the farm and it was very sad to see the damage from the fires but inspiring to see the rebuilding that is taking place. This stay is one I will remember for a lifetime.”

Airbnb: Becca Roberts, 16 to 18 April 2018, USA

“We had a wonderful experience at Vumba. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with great hospitality and welcomed into a house in perfect condition. Impeccable. The decoration of the house deserves special mention, done with extreme good taste, creating a very welcoming atmosphere. We made the most of the tranquillity of the countryside and all the amenities offered. The pool area was one of our favourite places to relax. However, one suggestion would be to install steps to facilitate entry and exit from the pool, as well as an outdoor shower, which is common in environments like this. It is important to mention that, as we are in a rural area, it is natural to encounter some mosquitoes, which in no way diminished the quality of our stay. We recommend, however, that you come prepared for this.

It was an excellent experience, a little piece of rural paradise. And ask for breakfast, it’s worth it!!! “

“We had a fantastic 3-day stay with our 3 children. The place is beautiful, very well decorated, the pool is excellent, and we all loved feeding the chickens! I highly recommend visiting the sheepfold on the estate. Outside the property, Joanna’s suggestions were great: we loved the walk and swim at Foz d’Égua, as well as the restaurant in Vimieiro (be warned, the portions are huge, but delicious!).

The space is truly spectacular and the facilities are of high quality. The large kitchen and living room, with the spacious terrace, are perfect for spending quality time with the family.

In short, we highly recommend it!!!”

🙂 Joana was a lovely host, she went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The yogurt and queijo fresco from her goats are superb! We did not stay long enough to enjoy the pool, but it looked lovely! She is also very dog friendly which was a plus for us and our dog. In this current COVID-19 age of travel it was also very reassuring to see how clean the room and common spaces were. Vumba takes safety seriously! We will be back again soon, and next time we hope to stay longer!”

Booking: Nancy Novak, 16 to 18 August 2020, Portugal/EUA

“This place really is paradise, from the perfect location (1h to most destinations in Serra de Estrela or to the beaches) to the wonderful farm to all the little details that make you feel welcome and at home. They also provide you with their own artisanal handmade cheese and organic eggs from their chicken or vrgetables from their garden. We stayed with two little kids and everything was great, really highly recommended!”

Airbnb: Tina Stopp, 18 to 28 August 2021, Austria

“Staying at Vumba was a great experience! Joana and her Team have a kind and fun personality. We enjoyed spending time with them at the farm, learning how to melk and make the cheese- our 3 year old son loved to feed the animals and spend time at this special place! The accomodation was lovely prepared! Very clean and enough wood to make it warm and comfy in the kitchen and living room area. For the bedroom and bathroom we had electric heating as it was still a bit fresh in march time! The breakfast we can warmly recommend the granola is fantastic as well as this special cheese and all around that with fruits and coffe and much more! The spot is in a nice distance to check out the mountain surrounding, also it is not too far away from the beach! We loved to stay at the pool area as well where you have a great view and can relax also if you dont use the water for swimming!

Thank you so much for your generousity and kindess, all the laughter and the treats on the side!”

« 100% amazing! Vumba farm is a peaceful and beautiful place in the heart of several fun destinations in northern Portugal. We stayed in the Lizard house, which was spacious and comfortable (felt cool inside even while it was hot outside). The private yard next to the house made for a beautiful setting for our breakfasts. Having the animals around made it an extra fun time for our six year old daughter (particularly when the chickens gave us eggs!). There is a larger house that can be used by other guests, with games to enjoy (there was only one other family at the farm so felt very private even when we ran into them). The large pool and many trails to talk also gave us things to do at the farm when we were not visiting near by towns. The best part was Joanna and other people at the farm who made us feel like family, not to mention delicious bread and cheese they shared. Hope we can come back some day. »

Airbnb: Anna Pavlik, 10 to 15 July 2024, USA

«A beautiful apartment in a lovely renovated farmhouse, spacious and well organized. Up to date, stylish and cozy design, with high attention to details, creating a pleasant atmosphere and a wonderful stay. The property has several other communal facilities which looked great, although we didn’t have the chance to use them. There was also an option to order a welcome breakfast kit, which was wonderful. Hosts and staff are highly communicative and helpful.”

Booking: Omri Rimon, 15 to 18 October 2024, Israel

“We felt very comfortable at Vumba from the moment we arrived. It is a wonderful, peaceful place, with great style and attention to detail. Joana helped us immensely with her excellent tips for tours and restaurants and was always available. Tito spoiled us every morning with fresh bread rolls, which made the start of the day special.

Accommodation that combines tranquillity, friendliness and comfort in a wonderful way – we will gladly return.”
